EightNine: Pool Scorekeeper

Terms of Service

Last updated 7 November 2026. Applies to EightNine for Android and iOS.

The short version: EightNine is a scoresheet for pool. Scoring is free. Insights is a one-time purchase and tips are optional; both go through Google Play or the App Store, and refunds go through them too. Your matches are yours. The app keeps score the way you set it up, and it is not an official ruling on any league's or venue's rules. It is not for betting.

Who we are

EightNine is made and published by an independent developer based in Israel. In these terms, "we" and "us" mean that developer, and "you" means the person using the app.

Agreeing to these terms

By downloading or using EightNine you agree to these terms and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app, and uninstall it.

What the app does

EightNine records the score of pool and billiards matches on your phone. You choose the format and the rule settings when you start a match, and the app keeps score by those settings.

The app does not decide what the rules are. Rules for the same game differ between leagues, venues and countries, and several formats in the app are set by you because there is no single standard. Where a league, tournament or venue has its own rules, those rules apply, not the app's settings. A score shown in the app is a record of what was entered, not an official result.

The app has no connection to any league, governing body or rating system, and it does not produce official ratings or rankings.

Purchases

Scoring is free and has no ads. Two things can be bought inside the app:

Both are sold and charged by Google Play or the App Store, under that store's terms. The store sets the price shown to you, including any tax. We never see your card or your store account.

Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its refund rules. Request one from Google Play or from Apple. We cannot issue refunds ourselves, because we do not take the payment.

Restoring. Insights stays tied to the store account you bought it with. On a new phone signed in to the same store account, tap Restore purchases. A purchase made on Google Play does not carry over to the App Store, or the other way round.

If Insights does not unlock after you paid, write to [email protected] and we will help.

How you may use it

You may use EightNine for your own personal, non-commercial scorekeeping, and for scoring matches at a club, league night or tournament. You agree not to:

EightNine has no stake, currency or payment features, and none will be added.

Your data

Your matches, opponent names and scores are stored on your phone and belong to you. We do not receive them. You can export them at any time, free, as JSON or CSV. The Privacy Policy describes exactly what the app stores and the one case in which anything leaves your phone.

Keeping a backup is up to you. The app supports your phone's own backup, described in the Privacy Policy, and the export above. If you uninstall the app or clear its storage without a backup or export, your matches are gone, and we hold no copy to restore them from.

Ownership

The app, its name, its icon and its design belong to us. Using the app gives you a personal licence to use it under these terms; it does not give you ownership of it. Anything you export is yours to use as you like.

No warranty

We work to keep EightNine reliable, and every scoring action is saved as you make it so a match survives a crash. Even so, the app is provided as it is and as available. We do not promise that it will be free of errors, that it will run on every device, or that it will be available forever.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the app, including lost match records, a disputed result, or a decision made based on a score in the app. Where we are liable, our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us for the app in the twelve months before the claim, or, if you paid nothing, to USD 10.

Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under consumer protection law that cannot be limited by agreement, including the law of the country where you live.

App stores

These terms are between you and us, not you and Google or Apple. If you got the app from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies, and where it and these terms differ, the one that gives you more protection applies. Google and Apple are not responsible for the app, its content or its support.

Changes

The app changes over time: features are added, and occasionally reworked. We will not take away the Insights features you paid for without giving you a working replacement.

If these terms change, the date at the top of this page will change, and a material change will be described in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the new terms.

Ending

You can stop using EightNine at any time by uninstalling it. There is no account to close. These terms stop applying to you when you no longer have the app. The sections on ownership, warranty, liability and law continue to apply to anything that happened before then.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel. If a dispute cannot be resolved by writing to us first, the competent courts in Tel Aviv-Yafo, Israel, will have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer living elsewhere, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your own country and may bring a claim in its courts where that law allows it.
